Silicon nitride is a high-performing material in metal composites and we have experience in both traditional metallurgy and 3D-printing of metals.
Nuenz fabricated titanium composites. Commercially Pure and Ti64 powders were used to synthesise Ti-Si3N4 composites. The composites were high-density and had a very high hardness of 401 HBW.
The Si3N4 partially reacted at the interphase to form Ti-Si-N and Ti(N)0.03 phases which explained the ultra-hard MMC material. The MMC is a good candidate for high-wear coatings.
